Meet Dr. Jamilah Thomas
First Lady | Upon This Rock
Dr. Jamilah Thomas serves as the First Lady of Upon This Rock, walking alongside her husband in ministry with a heart for seeing people strengthened, encouraged, and grounded in the Word of God.
Her journey with Christ began at the age of 23, and at 26 she preached her first sermon. Since that time, she has served through preaching, teaching, discipleship, leadership, and congregational care. She holds a Doctorate in Biblical Studies and is passionate about making the Word of God understandable, practical, and applicable to everyday life.
Beyond ministry, Dr. Thomas is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As part of a blended family of seven children and two granddaughters, family has deeply shaped her understanding of love, grace, perseverance, and the importance of building a strong spiritual foundation for generations to come.
She is also a published author and creative whose work explores faith, identity, healing, purpose, and spiritual growth. Her heart is especially drawn to helping people recognize that they are seen by God, valued by God, and called for His purpose.
As First Lady of UTR, Dr. Thomas is committed to supporting the vision of the ministry, cultivating genuine relationships, and helping create a church community where people can belong, grow, heal, and serve.
At the center of everything she does is a simple desire: to love her family well, serve people faithfully, and point others to Jesus Christ—the Rock upon whom everything is built.
